Caption: (1) and (3) New York to Nome Airplanes a "hedge hopping" cross country flight about 1919 or 1920. The first planes we had ever seen. They landed in a cow pasture in West Dawson. Note hay bales for field markers. The planes "hedge hopped" from Dawson to Nome and then all the way back to New York,. It must be remembered that there was no
